Principle and Selection of solid mixer (2)
Solid mixers are relatively simple low-investment equipment, and most mixers can simply be classified and offered options based on the mixing mechanism applied. In the last issue, we introduced the working principle of the mixer and the type of the mixer. Now we will simply introduce the method of selecting the mixer.
1. Select according to process requirements
The requirements of a given process and the purpose of the operation include the nature of the mixed product, the degree of mixing required, productivity, operation characteristics (intermittent or continuous), etc. In general, the quality of the mixture and the compatibility of the different mixer types to the process need to be considered together.
1.1 According to product purity requirements: Rotary mixer is optional, the inner wall of the mixer is smooth and easy to clean, bearing and sealing sleeve do not contact with the mixture, to avoid lubricating oil pollution.
1.2 Depending on material size requirements:"gentle" operation of rotary mixer and low speed convection mixer usually does not cause significant crushing.
1.3 Depending on the continuity of operation: a convective mixer type of spiral or fluidized bed mixer is available.
2. According to the mixture quality requirements and powder material properties
Properties of powder materials: particle size, shape and distribution, density, apparent density, Angle of rest, fluidity, adhesion, agglutination, moisture and so on. The efficiency of different mixers can be evaluated by using a standard mixture and comparing the performance of the mixers.
3. Selection based on the cost of mixing operations
Operation reliability and economy, including loading and unloading, cleaning and other operations, equipment investment and maintenance costs, operation costs, etc. If there is more than one mixer that can meet the needs of the process and guarantee the quality of the mixture, the final mixer choice will depend on the unit cost of the mixing operation.
4. Conclusion
In general, the selection of the mixer should determine the parameters are: the type of mixer, operating conditions (including speed, filling rate, raw material component ratio, the method and order of filling each component, mixing time, etc.) and the mixer's individual production capacity. The choice of mixer depends on the process material, process needs and the efficiency of the mixer.
